The Derwen College Garden Centre is open!
(updated 30th July 2020)
Please be aware that if you are planning to visit the Garden Centre between 3rd and 17th August, you will not be able to access Twmpath Lane (Garden Centre entrance) from the A5.
Twmpath Lane will be closed from the Orthopaedic/Gobowen roundabout during this period. Shropshire Council are repairing damage to the railway bridge starting on Monday 3rd August for up to two weeks. Diversions will be in place via Whittington.
You are once again able to visit the Garden Centre at Derwen College.
Safety measures are in place to allow you to visit with confidence. Staff will meet you at the door to show you the new one way system, and separate entrance and exit. Sanitiser stations are in use throughout, and we encourage contactless payment.
The Garden Centre at Derwen College offers a wide range of nursery stock, ‘[email protected] Derwen’ products and locally sourced goods.
The plants and flowers on display at the Garden Centre are mainly home-grown at Derwen College, but also supplemented by other suppliers.
Derwen College students are widely involved in the seed sowing, potting-on and selling of plants on display.
You can buy quality gifts and cards produced by local businesses as well as a variety of local dairy, bakery and other grocery products.
Did you know we have received
THREE Great Taste Awards
for our jams and chutneys?
Derwen chutneys, jams, cakes, breads and pastries are made on site.
There is a wide variety of both indoor and outdoor plants available to buy at the garden centre.
Seasonal outdoor plants include trees (ornamental and fruit), soft fruit, roses, shrubs, herbaceous plants and bedding plants.
Unusual gifts, cards, tools and equipment are also available to purchase.
Visit our award-winning Walled Garden!
The garden was recognised during judging for the 2019 Heart of England in Bloom awards. It has received an award in the It’s Your Neighbourhood category. It’s Your Neighbourhood is all about bringing members of the community together to make a positive change to the place they live, work or spend their leisure time.
The Walled Garden is open to visitors and also plays an important role in providing a work experience area for students. A visit may just provide you with some horticultural inspiration for your own garden!
From 20th July, the Garden Centre will be open 10am to 4pm, every day. The Garden Cafe will also be open 10am to 3pm.
The postcode for Derwen College Garden Centre will take you to the college entrance, so please use the map below to find us. The entrance is located on Twmpath Lane in Gobowen.
