Archive Talk: ‘Self-Supporting Citizens’ - How Agnes Hunt founded Derwen College

The Orangery Restaurant, Derwen College

Marie Carter, Archives Officer at The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust presents a talk about how Agnes Hunt founded Derwen College.

In April 1927, Dame Agnes Hunt referred to her plans for a training college for the disabled as ‘a great campaign’, designed to make self-supporting citizens out of those who were overlooked due to their disabilities.

We will take you back 90 years as we look through the Derwen archives, including photographs from the 1920s, ledgers and books to discover how Dame Agnes, a pioneer and visionary, founded the groundbreaking Derwen College.

This is a free event, however donations towards refreshments are welcome.
