As you wander down the corridor of Hotel 751 you may believe that you have walked straight into one of the latest Premier Inn hotels.

Hotel 751 housekeeping training centre

You are, in fact, in Derwen College’s housekeeping training centre.

Students ready to welcome guests to Hotel 751

Hotel 751 was the first Premier Inn training centre of its kind in the country, and opened to guests in 2019.

Hotel 751 comprises a reception area, three en-suite bedrooms and a linen room all set to Premier Inn standard. This creates a real-life work setting for our learners.

Students learn on-the-job housekeeping and reception skills through Hotel 751. Once they have completed their training, there are opportunities to  access valuable work experience placements at local Premier Inn hotels.

Enabling students to access industry standard training in hospitality helps improve their chances of gaining employment after college.

Many of our learners have managed to secure work placements at their local Premier Inn when they have completed their training and returned to their home area.

Partnership work between Derwen College, Premier Inn and Novus Property Solutions enabled Hotel 751’s development.

The opening of Hotel 751 in 2017

Premier Inn and Derwen College have worked together since 2013. Early discussions resulted in the first Premier Inn training room opening at Derwen in September 2014.

The converted room allowed students to familiarise themselves with Premier Inn’s routine before they started work placements at local branches. Consequently maximising their work experience opportunities.

Hotel 751 however has taken the training facilities to a higher level. Walk into reception and you are transported to a genuine hotel setting.

Tracey Bishop (Area Manager) was pivotal in setting up the relationship between Premier Inn and Derwen College.

Hotel 751 “will make a real difference to many lives. Derwen College will provide somewhere within their own community for students to learn valuable life skills, improve their confidence and build self-esteem.

“The partnership between Premier Inn, Derwen College and Novus demonstrates how industry and education can work together for the benefit of everyone. We are amazed at the generosity and willingness of everyone who has contributed.”

Book your stay at Hotel 751. Our students will delight in making you feel comfortable and cared for.
