In 1942, Marina, Duchess of Kent becomes Derwen College’s Patron.
The Duchess first visits Derwen College on 20 September 1943.
Following the death of her husband, Prince George, Duke of Kent and Derwen College’s first Patron, in 1942, the College’s Executive Committee invited Marina, Duchess of Kent, to take on the role of Patron.
She visited the College the following year. During her visit she was accompanied by Captain the Lord and Lady Herbert and the Earl of Dudley, Regional Commissioner. The College’s President Lord Baldwin was present, accompanied by Lady Baldwin.
Dame Agnes Hunt, Members of the Committee and various members of the staff were presented, and the Duchess undertook at tour of the College, before going on to visit the Orthopaedic Hospital.
