We recently hosted a special afternoon tea in The Orangery Restaurant to thank our dedicated team of volunteers for everything they do to support the College and Derwen Charity.
The event, attended by volunteers and members of staff, was a chance to express our appreciation to these individuals. They generously give their time and energy to enhance student experiences and help our services run smoothly.
We currently have eight active volunteers supporting teams across the College. We were delighted to be joined by five of them for the celebration, where Meryl and the SLT team gave personal thanks for their ongoing commitment and enthusiasm.
Our valued volunteers who joined us for the celebration included:
-
Jon Hunt – A newer member of the team, Jon has been volunteering in the Garden Centre alongside Will for the past few months.
-
Anna Redding – Supports the Performing Arts team, assisting teaching staff with creativity and care.
-
Kate Foster – A familiar face in the Charity Shop, Kate has been volunteering there since it opened in 2021, working alongside Sharon.
-
Isabel Jones – Has supported the Garden Centre greenhouse team since 2021, working closely with Paul and Will.
-
Matthew Beni – A former student who has progressed to becoming a valuable part of the Horticulture team.
Principal & CEO Meryl Green praised the volunteers for the positive impact they make across the College, saying:
“Our volunteers are an important part of the Derwen community. Their dedication and kindness make a real difference to staff, students, and visitors alike. We’re incredibly grateful for all they do.”
We’d like to thank all our volunteers – whether they’ve been with us for months or years – for their invaluable contributions.
