Our talented DC Theatre group – Derwen College’s internal work experience performance troupe – took to the stage to present The Healthy Relationship Show to main site students!

This energetic, educational performance and interactive workshop was developed in collaboration with our PSHE (Personal, social and health education) team. They tackled real-life relationship topics that matter to our students.

Pathway lead Jessie Vaughan described the show as: “Think ‘Jeremy Kyle’ meets ‘Family Fortunes’ – with plenty of audience participation, laughter. There was even a fresh take on a well-known pop song!”

Students and staff worked hard to create this fun and meaningful show, using creativity and humour to open up important conversations.

Take a look at the music video (below), adapted specially for the show!

DC Theatre creates educational theatre that portrays a particular message, or to raise awareness around a specific topic. Past themes have been around topics such as bullying, recycling and kindness. The interactive pieces are often performed with Makaton sign and song, along with educational facts and figures and workshop activities.

DC Theatre works together to gather information and develop a script. They create and source props, scenery and costume to support their Theatre in Education activities. These performances/workshops are performed internally to educate learners across other pathways.
