Festive sparkle filled our Nurture building, as students enjoyed a magical sensory celebration, thanks to the inclusive ‘Chrimblesense’ theatre show by Embracing Arts.
The performance was a Christmassy celebration for the senses, designed especially for our students with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD) and complex needs.
From the moment the show began, the atmosphere was festive and fun, with crunching wrapping paper, twinkling colourful lights, festive music and song, and interactive moments that encouraged students to touch, smell, and fully embrace the sensory magic of the season. Students responded with delight to the many new sounds, texture, and sparkle.
Head of Nurture Provision Bev Simmonds said, “Thank you so much to Embracing Arts for joining us, bringing the magic of seasonal sensory experiences. Experiences like this, bringing in groups from the community, are invaluable for our students. You could see the joy on the faces of students and staff, and we’re grateful to Embracing Arts for their commitment to providing accessible performances for our students.”
Derwen College’s Nurture programme currently supports seven students with complex needs, offering a highly personalised curriculum focused on communication, care, independence, and wellbeing. The dedicated team ensures every student can thrive and enjoy opportunities like this unforgettable festive event.
