Wander down the corridor of Hotel 751, past the well-appointed bedrooms. You may be mistaken for thinking that you have walked into one of the latest Premier Inn hotels.
You are, in fact, in Derwen College’s Premier Inn Training Centre.
Hotel 751 is the first training centre of its kind in the country. Now open for bookings, the reception area, three en-suite bedrooms and linen room creates a real work setting for our learners. At Hotel 751 students learn housekeeping and reception skills while accessing invaluable work experience placements at local Premier Inn hotels. This amazing training facility opened in 2017. Enabling students to access industry standard training in hospitality, it improves their chance of gaining employment after college. The aim of Hotel 751 is for learners to complete their training and secure work placement at their local Premier Inn when they return to their home area.
Partnership work between Derwen College, Premier Inn and Novus Property Solutions enabled Hotel 751’s development.Premier Inn and Derwen College have worked together since 2013.
In September 2014 a room at Derwen was converted to a Premier Inn training room to maximise work experience opportunities. Consequently the room allowed students to familiarise themselves with Premier Inn’s routine before they started work placements at local branches.
Hotel 751 however has taken the training facilities to a higher level. You are transported to a hotel setting as you walk through the reception door of the training centre.
Tracey Bishop (Area Manager) was pivotal in setting up the relationship between Premier Inn and Derwen College.
Hotel 751 “will make a real difference to many lives. Derwen College will provide somewhere within their own community for students to learn valuable life skills, improve their confidence and build self-esteem.
“The partnership between Premier Inn, Derwen College and Novus demonstrates how industry and education can work together for the benefit of everyone. We have been amazed by the generosity and willingness of all of those who have contributed.”
You can now stay at Hotel 751!
