Lord Kenyon served as Chair of Governors / Trustees from 1949 to 1992, following Sir Watkin Williams Wynn’s retirement.
Lord Lloyd Tyrell-Kenyon joined the College’s governing body in 1938 and retired after 54 years of service in 1992.
He devoted his life to public service, contributing tirelessly in a quiet, unassuming, and selfless manner at a number of organisations across the country, including Derwen Training College.
As Chair of Governors and Trustees from 1949 to 1992, he remains the longest-serving Chair in the College’s history. He led the appeal for the Agnes Hunt Memorial to build the Agnes Hunt Bungalows, which are still in use today.
In 1972 a new residence for girls at the College was built and named in his honour – Kenyon House which is still in use today.
