A packed audience enjoyed mischief, magic and grand adventure as Performing Arts students took to the stage for this year’s summer show, Peter Pan.

Performed at Moreton School’s Holroyd Community Theatre in Weston Rhyn, the much-anticipated production had been rescheduled from May, making the performances even more special. The matinee was enjoyed by students and staff, while the evening performance welcomed families and VIP guests.

The show received heartfelt praise from families, including the parent of Peter Pan, Elijah, who said: “You and your team delivered another fantastic performance last night It was truly amazing!

“We feel compelled to express our appreciation for the time and awesome effort you all put in with these amazing young people.
The positive impact was palpable and the joy exuded by the performers contagious!”

There were cheers, laughs galore and plenty of booing for Captain Hook and his pirates as Performing Arts students brought Neverland to life with singing, dancing, acting and comedy moments. Everyone played their part professionally and with confidence, with a large cast that included mermaids, fairies, Lost Kids, the Darling family, pirates, a dancing crocodile, a witty narrator, and of course Captain Hook and Peter Pan and his shadow.

Musical highlights included a lively pirate version of the Wellerman sea shanty, a dramatic Live and Let Die, and a moving solo of Lost Boy. Drama came in the form of a swashbuckling fight scene, including a playful plastic ball fight that the audience loved joining in with, as well as some college in-jokes thrown in for good measure.

The production was the result of months of hard work, with students learning lines, choreography and music, and taking part in full days of dress rehearsals. Fabulous costumes, colourful scenery and a well-honed script, which allowed every student to play to their strengths, helped make the show a success.

Special guests included Derwen Charity supporters, volunteers and college governors.

A huge well done to everyone involved in bringing a huge sprinkling of Neverland magic to the Holroyd.
