Final year students enjoyed a special trip to Aardman in Concert, a live film-and-orchestra celebration featuring much-loved characters including Wallace & Gromit.

The tickets were kindly offered by the parents of student Patrick, whose family run Carrot Productions. They provided complimentary tickets for students to attend the premiere performance at Birmingham Town Hall, as a way of saying thank you for the support Patrick has received during his time at college.

Aardman in Concert celebrates 50 years of Aardman’s much-loved characters and stories, combining big-screen animation moments with a live orchestral soundtrack. The show features highlights from favourites including Wallace & Gromit, Shaun the Sheep, Morph and Creature Comforts, and included a screening of Wallace & Gromit: A Matter of Loaf and Death with live accompaniment.

Principal and CEO Meryl Green said: “We’re very grateful to Patrick’s parents for their generosity in inviting our students and providing tickets. It was a fantastic opportunity and a really enjoyable experience for everyone who attended.”

Rachel and Daniel Whibley said: “As we began our new tour celebrating 50 years of Aardman, we were delighted to offer the students at Derwen College free tickets to attend the premiere performance at Birmingham Town Hall. It was our way of saying thank you for giving Patrick such a wonderful time at college over the last two and a half years.”

The performance was produced by Carrot Productions, led by Rachel Whibley (Managing Director) and Daniel Whibley (Artistic Director, composer and arranger). Carrot Productions is taking Aardman in Concert on tour across the UK throughout 2026. For details and dates, visit carrotproductions.com.
