We’ve had a fantastic start to the autumn term here at Derwen College, welcoming new students and greeting returning students back to campus.

Over the past two weeks, students have enjoyed a packed programme of Freshers activities designed to help everyone settle in, build friendships and try something new.

The celebrations reached new heights on Freshers’ Friday, a fun-filled afternoon featuring a wide range of outdoor activities. Highlights included football and basketball shootouts, cricket and rugby games, a mobile climbing wall, inflatable slide, and even inflatable axe throwing. Indoors, students enjoyed creating their own personalised water bottles – a great keepsake from their first weeks at College – and cooling off with ice creams and lollies.

And the fun isn’t over yet! A Freshers barbecue and evening of activities is taking place tonight, giving students even more chances to relax, socialise and celebrate the start of the year.

It’s been lovely to see our new students beginning to find their feet, and for returning students to help them settle in. We’re already seeing new friendships forming and can’t wait to share more about how everyone is getting along over the coming weeks.

Welcome (and welcome back!) to all our students – we’re so excited to have you with us for the year ahead.
