[email protected] Ashdale House Course InformationThe Vocational Pathway at Ashdale House provides an opportunity to work in small groups to develop and improve experience and confidence.
Provision at Ashdale includes learning a range of outdoor work-based activities in horticulture and conservation. Art and crafts, English, maths and ICT skills are embedded into the curriculum (see Curriculum Overview below). Through these work-based activities students develop personal and social skills, work preparation and independence skills.
Where appropriate, accreditation can be gained.
Learners will be able to progress:
- Their Award to a Certificate at the same ability level
- To an Award or Certificate at the next ability level
- To a work opportunity within the local community
The Vocational Pathway at Ashdale is for young adults aged between 16 and 25 with learning difficulties, disabilities and challenging needs. As Ashdale offers day provision the location is suitable for those who live in or around Wrexham.
Those accessing the course will have an interest in outdoor, land based and craft based activities. They will be working at Entry Level (including pre-entry) or Level 1. Individual learning plans matching abilities are established after a pre-entry assessment visit.

Ashdale House lies between Overton and Penley in north east Wales. It is about half an hour’s drive from Chester, and from Derwen College’s main campus in Oswestry. Ashdale House is approximately an hour and a half’s drive from Birmingham, and an hour from Manchester and Liverpool.
