A new event aimed specifically at families with children with learning difficulties and disabilities is being organised by Shropshire Parent and Carer Council (PACC) to be held at Derwen College sports ground, Gobowen. The Shropshire Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)Community Games will take place on Saturday 24th September from 10am – 2pm the day before the Oswestry Community Games at Cae Glas Park, Oswestry on Sunday 25th September.
The Shropshire SEND Community Games is a day of activities with a host of sporting demonstrations and have-a-go events, there will be an under 5s zone as well as a chill out area, craft activities and an information zone. Activities include tots rugby, golf, football, climbing, cycling, go-carting, dancing and lots more.
“We are very excited to be working with Derwen College on this first Shropshire SEND Community Games. All the activities take place in a supportive environment and we really want to highlight the range of SEND providers available in the county which parents may not know about. Activities are free of charge and everyone who attends will receive a participation certificate. Try out five activities and you will receive a SEND Community Games medal. The facilities at Derwen College are ideal for this event and we are very happy to be working in conjunction with the college to host this event” said Sarah Thomas, Participation Co-ordinator PAAC.
Visitors are asked to register their interest in attending the event on 24th September at www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/shropshire-send-community-games-tickets-27540898569.
The Garden Café and Orangery Restaurant will be open on site for visitors to purchase lunch and refreshments and there is also plenty of room for picnics. Visitors to the event can also take a look around the Walled Garden, Garden Centre and Farm Shop.
