Derwen College Fete Weekend 2024, Essential Information

We look forward to seeing you at this year’s Fete, taking place over Bank Holiday Weekend 25 & 26 May.

Here’s some handy information to help you plan your visit to this FREE entry event.

Derwen Fete Times

The fete will be open 10am to 4pm Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 May 2023.

What’s on?

Saturday

  • Stalls and games for all the family
  • Derwen-made ice cream
  • Local artisan crafts and food
  • Childrens inflatable fun
  • BBQ and Bar
  • Duck race – starts approximately 2.30pm.
  • Live music
  • Tombola
  • Grand raffle – draw takes place at 3pm.

Sunday

  • Dog show, starts at 12.30pm – entries on the day
  • Local artisan crafts and food
  • Childrens inflatable fun

Dog Show

Entries for our second annual dog show open at 10am and close when each class is full.

Judging begins at 12.30pm and entry to each class is £2.

  • Best puppy (6–12 months)
  • Prettiest bitch
  • Most handsome guy
  • Best veteran (7 years and over)
  • Cleverest dog
  • Best junior handler (10 years and under)
  • Best junior handler (11–16 years)
  • Waggiest tail
  • Most appealing eyes
  • Dog the judge would most like to take home

Derwen College Grand Raffle

The Grand Raffle will take place on Saturday at 3pm.

Tickets will be available shortly.

Cash or card?

Entry into the fete weekend is FREE.

The stalls and outlets to purchase food and drink may not always have a card machine for payments, and will only be able to take cash. There is no cash machine on site at Derwen, so please ensure you bring cash with you. You can find the nearest cashpoint here.

Fete Parking

The entrance for ALL visitors during Fete Weekend will be at Derwen College Entrance A, Twmpath Lane, Gobowen.

Public Transport

The Fete is accessible via Arriva Buses from Oswestry Bus Station (services 2 and 53). The nearest bus stops are Park Hall Derwen College and Gobowen Agnes Hunt.

Gobowen Railway Station is a 15 minute walk from the Fete. Regular trains arrive at Gobowen from Chester, Shrewsbury and Birmingham.
