Ty Mawr, friends of Ty Mawr and volunteers were all invited to Wrexham’s Mayor’s Parlour on Monday 19th May. Two trainees from Derwen volunteer there every week, and Jo Pritchard, Julie Bryan and Abi Baker represented the college at the event.
The Mayor and Mayoress spoke about what they do, how long they have been in office and explained about the Mayoral chains they wear and what was on them. They talked about the Wrexham Crest, and they showed the guests items from the Parlour that have been donated to them from Wrexham – including an original miner’s lamp and an original Ruabon brick, as well as many other items.
The guests had tea in the council chambers, served by the Mayoress, who then explained what the chambers were used for. The guests were invited up onto the dais (usually reserved for only the Mayor and his party) for photos.
