Derwen College welcomed Oswestry Cambrian Rotary Club president Ron Pugh to visit the college’s new hydrotherapy pool. The pool will aid students in their physiotherapy and sensory needs.
Mr Pugh presented a cheque for £275 to the specialist FE college, near Oswestry. The club had raised the money to help pay for a specialist shower trolley. This will aid students with mobility difficulties in using the pool.
The pool will be used by Derwen College students in their therapy and well-being sessions. Therefore the new building has accessible changing rooms, physiotherapy area and a warm water pool with sensory lighting and music.
Mr Pugh had a tour of the pool with Fundraiser Paul Crosby. After that, Derwen College Business and Finance Director Andrew Smith accepted the cheque on behalf of the college. The pool will be available to students when they return for the new term in September.
Mr Crosby said: “As a result of generous donations from the community, Derwen will open the Bradbury Hydrotherapy Pool in September. I’d like to thank Cambrian Rotary Club for their donation toward a shower trolley which will help make the pool and changing area accessible to all of the students.”
