‘The Gallery’ provides a contemporary exhibition space for students to display and sell their creative work. Visitors are invited to browse around the themed exhibitions and selection of stylish, handmade cards and jewellery in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.

The exhibition programme follows seasonal and topical themes with three major shows a year and numerous smaller scale projects so that there is always something new to see. Recent exhibitions include the ‘Best of British’, where all items were inspired by the British Isles, and ‘The Show Must Go On’, a retrospective exhibition of props and costumes from college pantomimes over the past five years.

Art work on display covers a wide range of media including paintings, collage, textiles, ceramics, resin and glass. All items are hand made by students as part of their Creative Arts programme and finished to the highest standards.

Students gain invaluable work experience designing and producing the items for show and sale in the Gallery - they also meet and greet the public on a day to day basis in the role of Gallery Assistant. 
 

Visitors to the gallery have the opportunity to purchase these unique artworks. Occasionally these pieces will be added to by local guest artists. In addition to The Gallery – Derwen College also provides workshops for woodwork, picture framing and cane making products which produce a variety of gifts that are available to purchase on the day or can be produced to your own specifications.
