Leisure Activities
The leisure programme covers a wide range of activities, with the emphasis on encouraging students to develop their own leisure patterns, with guidance, so they will have the confidence to organise their leisure time and become involved in the community without staff or parental support.

The Social Centre is the heart of the College community. Here students socialise, listen to their choice of music and play indoor games; it is also the venue for discos and live music. The coffee bar is open for drinks and snacks in the evening. The extensive leisure activities include art, a motor club, a video and book club, card making club, bike club, a health and beauty club, drama club, a music club, computer club and a craft club.
Throughout the year there are many trips: in the summer to Chester Zoo, Drayton Manor Park and Alton Towers, in the Autumn to Blackpool Illuminations. There is also an annual visit to London with a special guided tour of the Houses of Parliament. Other outings include ice skating, outdoor pursuits, bowling, football matches and the Grand Prix and visits to theatres, pop concerts and exhibitions, including the Clothes Show and Horse of the Year Show. Outings are arranged to other places of interest, such as Cadbury World, Manchester Airport, tour of Manchester United FC or the Blue Planet Aquarium. Groups of students go to the College chalet at Barmouth for day trips; some spend a weekend with a member of staff and family.
The College has a specially adapted car with dual controls which is available to those wishing to learn to drive under qualified instructors.
Students are encouraged to participate in many activities, such as using the local leisure centre to gain experience and confidence in the community. Students can go to Oswestry at weekends on the College minibus with support or by public bus or taxi. Students become confident in using public transport or ordering a taxi to a local club, church or restaurant with the support they require. Students can book the College minibus and organise a group of friends to go to the cinema or bowling.
