Derwen College shares world excellence in ICT

Derwen College has been named one of sixteen world-class further education and skills providers to share technology excellence within the sector having been granted Technology Exemplar Network status.
The Network is designed to help colleges and other learning providers use technology more effectively.

Derwen College was chosen after continuing experience and confidence in using a variety of video conferencing services to support the learners. Video conference sessions to prospective colleges and other future destinations have helped alleviate some of the anxieties of the transition process by giving the students the opportunity to communicate with these destinations.
The Technology Exemplar Network builds on the overwhelming success of the programme and signifies the improvement of organisations striving to develop the best use of technology.

Led by government technology agency Becta and the Learning and Skills Council, the network works to share best practice for using technology between different learning providers across the country.
Jane Williams, Becta’s Executive Director for Further Education, Skills and

Regeneration said:“The exemplar providers chosen this year are shining examples, and over the coming 12 months will share their expertise and help others follow in their footsteps. This will ensure the effective use of technology is embedded across the sector.”
