Derwen College provides specialist further education for over 250 students in residential and day placements. The college is able to meet the individual and diverse needs of young people aged between 16 and 25 with a wide range of learning difficulties and associated disabilities

The college’s specialism is to teach through the medium of vocational programmes that promote employability through direct experiences in work, rather than merely training for work
Derwen Pathways
Part time short courses for people with learning difficulties and / or disabilities.
Broadoak Pathways
Day provision for young people with learning difficulties and / or disabilities with challenging behaviour needs.
Oak Provision
At Derwen College, we are continually developing our curriculum offer with some exciting new courses and programmes to meet the needs of the local community
Oak Education - Accessing Local Further Education
Support for young people with additional learning needs to access courses at Level 2 or 3 in local further education colleges. We provide individual support packages, including access to therapies and counselling when required.
Oak Education - Home/Peripatetic Tuition
Home / peripatetic tuition for young people with learning difficulties and / or disabilities unable to undertake tuition in a college environment.
Oak Apprenticeships
Health & Social Care, Retail, Horticulture, Business Administration, Catering or Hospitality. The apprenticeship programme is for people who are already in employment and want to gain qualifications. We specialise in supporting people with Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Autistic Spectrum Disorders and those who need additional support in English and Maths
Post College Provision

A two year supported program of work experience and independence training to enable young people with learning difficulties and disabilities to increase employability and independent living skills
DE
A residential / day provision available to people with learning difficulties and disabilities who have completed further education. Derwen Enterprises offers a period of extended work experience to give trainees the opportunity to live as independently as possible whilst developing employment skills within a commercial environment.
